Eliana’s habits:

Grandma Floyd came to stay with us on 6/24/06-6/29/06. She helped mommy by cleaning the house (e.g. mopping floors, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathroom). She also cooks some for us too. Grandma Floyd taught mommy how to sew. Mommy sewed Daddy’s holey pants. This made Daddy very happy.
Grandma Tina and Aunt Lisa came to visit Eliana on 7/1/06. They are very happy to see her.
Uncle Tim Floyd’s wedding was on July 9th. Mommy and Daddy took Eliana on her first road trip to Jackson, TN. It was a 9-10 hours drive. Eliana did really well on the road. Because of Eliana’s restful eating habits, Daddy bottle fed her with mommy’s expressed milk every 2.5-3 hours. This made the drive a lot easier since we were on a tight schedule to get to Jackson, TN the day before for the rehearsal dinner. At the rehearsal dinner, Daddy took Eliana around for her grandparents and all her aunts and uncles to hold her. She also did really well at both the wedding and the reception. It was a hot and humid day, so Eliana slept right through the reception. Of course, when we got back to the hotel, Eliana woke up and became fussy. Mommy and Daddy eventually were able to soothe her. Grandma and Grandpa Floyd came over to see us before we all went to bed. It was good because it gave Grandpa more opportunity to spend time with Eliana. The next day, we drove all the way home. Daddy continued to bottle feed Eliana while mommy did most of the driving. We got back to Fort Worth around 7:30 and went over to Grandma Tina’s house for some chicken soup. We visited with her and her husband, Shahid for a little bit before heading home. Eliana got fussy because she had a dirty diaper, was hungry, and tired from all the driving. She also did not like being strapped into her car seat either. Eliana tried to squirm her way out of it but of no avail. Maybe she’ll start sleeping in her crib soon since she probably hates the car seat now.
Since mommy was planning on going back to work on July 21st, we took Eliana to Ms. Kiki for daycare. Mommy wanted some practice and to get Eliana into a routine. Eliana did really well the first day. It was hard on mommy though. Mommy cried several times because she misses her baby. However, once mommy get back to work and into her routine, things will get better. Ms. Kiki figured out a way to get Eliana to sleep on her back. She used a comforter and shapes it in such a way to place into the bassinette so that it will make Eliana feel that someone is holding her while she is sleeping. Mommy and Daddy are keeping our fingers crossed and hope this will work at home. Any help that we can get is great, even if it requires a teddy bear feeding Eliana while we try to get some sleep.
